Film Laboratory

The only state film printing laboratory that works within the structure of Dovzhenko Centre provides a variety of services, including the processing of colour and black-and-white film materials, producing and restoring of film copies, scanning and processing of digital materials.

The enterprise has 60 years of experience dating back to Kyiv Film Printing Factory which produced the first Soviet colour films Hrunya Kurnakova and Mikado Palace as well as panoramic and wide-screen film copies for many countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.

The monitoring laboratory of the enterprise has daily control of the processes and regimes of film development, the chemical composition of developer solutions to meet the strict technical requirements and ensure the highest quality of the products.

  • Printing: 
    • Contact printing of colour and black-and-white positive copies;
    • Contactless printing of colour and black-and-white positive copies; 
    • Contactless printing of colour and black-and-white negative copies;
    • Contactless printing of negative sound recordings.
  • Scanning of negative/positive images and sound recordings from a film, optical scanner 2K resolution, DPX 10/16bit format; TIFF, or SD resolution, MOV format. 
  • Processing and colour correction, restoration and cleaning of film materials.
  • Digitization of films and videotapes (BNC, VHS).
  • Production of interpositives and internegatives.
  • Negative cutting, printing and processing of positives using cinex strips or electronic colour analyser;
  • Production of digital negatives (“Dolby surround”) and analogue optical soundtracks from the customer’s magnetic and digital storage;
  • Production of all types of positive film prints (including sample or master prints) and commercials. At the customer’s request, film prints can be produced with purple or non-silver films.
  • Restoration of the film base and emulsion layers (polishing, ultrasound cleaning).
